The sporting world has responded well in the worldwide effort to help victims of Asia's tsunamis.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his first-team squad have pledged £100,000 to the Asian tsunami disaster fund. That is on top of the £50,000 the club are giving as part of a £1m donation from all 20 Premier League clubs.
However, i feel Man Utd players should donate more money to help the victims. The players are millionaires, earning an average of about £30,000 per week!! That is excluding huge earners like Roy Keane, Rudd Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo and other 1st team players, whose salary is way above £30,000!!!!! £100,000 shared by so many huge earners in the squad is way too little!!
And why isn't Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic donating $ to help the victims? 1 billion dollars is nothing to him!!! C'mon, boss with 'title credential', show us some philanthropy in you!
In the world of tennis, Swedish player Jonas Bjorkman and his doubles partner, India's Mahesh Bhupathi, are donating their earnings from next week's Indian Open in Madras
England's cricketers have donated £15,000 to the appeal, while their fans are hoping to raise a further £20,000 and the Professional Cricketers' Association has pledged £5,000.
In China, a committee organising the 2008 Olympic Games set up donation sites throughout Beijing, collecting $2,900 in 30 minutes, state media said.
